Faropenem, as a penicillin antibiotic, must be strictly screened for contraindications before use to prevent serious adverse reactions. The following two types of patients need to be particularly vigilant.

1、 Individuals with a history of severe allergy to penicillin/cephalosporins

Cross allergy risk: Faropenem belongs to the β - lactam class of antibiotics along with penicillin and cephalosporin, and there is a possibility of cross allergy. Individuals with a history of severe allergies to the two types of drugs mentioned above should avoid using this product.

Severe allergic manifestations: including anaphylactic shock, laryngeal edema, dyspnea, exfoliative dermatitis, etc. Those who have experienced the above reactions in the past are prohibited from using it.

Non severe allergy history: Only mild to moderate rash or non allergic adverse reactions (such as mild diarrhea) can be used with caution under close supervision, but the doctor must be informed in advance.

Alternative option: For patients with a history of allergies who require anti infective treatment, non beta lactam antibiotics should be selected after evaluation by a specialist.

2、 Notice for patients with a history of epilepsy

Central nervous system risk: Faropenem may lower the seizure threshold, and individuals with a history of epilepsy or other convulsive disorders are at increased risk of developing seizures after use.

Risk of renal insufficiency: Reduced renal function can increase drug blood concentrations, further increasing central nervous system toxicity. If such patients need medication, the dosage should be reduced and the neurological and psychiatric symptoms should be closely monitored.

Convulsion warning: If muscle twitching, changes in consciousness, or blurred vision occur during medication, the medication should be stopped immediately and medical attention should be sought.

Other neurological disorders, such as traumatic brain injury, cerebrovascular disease, or severe central nervous system infections, should also be used with caution.

3、 Other cautious groups

Severe renal insufficiency (dialysis patients): Dosage should be adjusted according to creatinine clearance rate and monitoring should be strengthened.

Pregnancy and lactation: Lack of sufficient safety data, only used when benefits outweigh potential risks.
