1、 Drug name
1. Common name: Ritastal
2. Product Name: Xiidra ™
3. English name: Lifitegrast Ophthalmic Solution
2、 Indications
Used to treat the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease.
3、 Specifications and characteristics
1. Specification: 5% (50mg/mL) eye drops.
2. Characteristic: Aseptic, clear, colorless to slightly brownish yellow isotonic solution with a pH value of 7.0-8.0. Packaged in low-density polyethylene single dose containers, with 0.2mL per vial.
4、 Main components
Active ingredient: Lifitegrast.
5、 Usage and dosage
1. Recommended dosage: Take one drop per eye twice a day, with an interval of about 12 hours between each dose (e.g. once in the morning and once in the evening).
2. Usage: Use a single dose container. Wash hands before taking medication, and those wearing contact lenses should remove the lenses first. After each container is opened, it can be used for double eye medication. It should be discarded immediately after use and should not be stored for future use. Wait at least 15 minutes after applying the medication before wearing contact lenses again.
6、 Dose adjustment
There are currently no conventional dose adjustment plans based on efficacy or specific populations.
7、 Medication precautions
1. Medication timing: Use at a fixed time every day (such as morning and evening), without strict requirements before and after meals.
2. Missed use: If missed once, it should be replenished as soon as possible when remembered. But if it is close to the next medication time, the missed dose should be skipped and the next medication should be used at the regular time. Do not use double the dosage at once.
3. Stimulation after medication: Transient eye irritation, discomfort, or blurred vision may occur after infusion, which is a common reaction. If the stimulation persists or worsens, consult a doctor.
4. Container usage: Do not let the tip of the container come into contact with eyes or any surface to prevent contamination or damage.
5. Storage: Single dose containers should always be kept in their original aluminum foil bags before use.
8、 Medication for special populations
1. Pregnant women: There is no data on the use of pregnant women yet. Animal experiments have shown that high-dose intravenous administration carries risks, but the systemic exposure after eye use is very low, and the impact on human pregnancy risk is not yet clear.
2. Breastfeeding women: It is unclear whether the medication is excreted through human milk. Due to low systemic exposure, the pros and cons should be weighed.
3. Children (under 17 years old): Safety and efficacy have not been established yet.
4. Elderly patients (≥ 65 years old): No overall differences were observed in safety or efficacy compared to young adult patients.
5. Patients with liver/kidney dysfunction: The instructions do not mention the need for special dosage adjustment.
9、 Adverse reactions
1. The most common adverse reactions (with an incidence rate of 5% -25%) are irritation at the drip site, taste disorders (with an unpleasant odor in the mouth), and decreased vision.
2. Other common adverse reactions (incidence rate 1% -5%): blurred vision, conjunctival congestion, eye irritation, headache, increased tear secretion, eye discharge, eye discomfort, itching, sinusitis.
10、 Contraindications
There are no known contraindications.
11、 Drug interactions
There are currently no clinically significant drug interactions.
12、 Storage method
1. Store at room temperature of 20 ° C to 25 ° C (68 ° F to 77 ° F).
2. Single dose containers should be stored in their original aluminum foil bags and kept away from light.
3. Do not put back the container that has been taken out of the bag.
