The correct use of Valcyte requires strict adherence to medical advice, and its dosage should be adjusted according to indications, patient weight, and kidney function. During the medication period, regular monitoring of blood routine and kidney function is necessary.

1. Conventional dosage regimen

(1) Treatment of CMV retinitis: The recommended dose is 900mg (two 450mg tablets), twice daily for 21 consecutive days.

(2) Maintenance therapy: After completing induction therapy, switch to 900mg once daily or adjust according to the doctor's advice.

(3) Transplantation prevention: 900mg once daily, starting within 10 days after transplantation and lasting for 100-200 days.

Adjustment for Special Groups 2

(1) Renal insufficiency: The dosage should be adjusted according to the creatinine clearance rate, and it must be reduced when CrCl<60mL/min.

(2) Hemodialysis patients: The recommended dose is 450mg, administered three times a week after dialysis.

(3) Child patients: The dose should be calculated based on body surface area, with a daily dose not exceeding 900mg.

3 Medication precautions

(1) Usage: Swallow the whole tablet, do not break, crush or chew. It is recommended to take it with food.

(2) Time schedule: Take at a fixed time every day. If missed for more than 2 hours, skip this dose.
