Carvan is a selective beta 1 receptor blocker primarily used for the treatment of hypertension and angina. Its blood pressure lowering mechanism is achieved by inhibiting sympathetic nervous system activity, reducing cardiac output and renin secretion, and has long-lasting and stable blood pressure lowering characteristics.

Indications of Bevanolol for the Treatment of Hypertension

1. Primary hypertension

Suitable for long-term treatment of adult primary hypertension, especially for patients with tachycardia or high-risk factors for coronary heart disease. Clinical trials have shown that it can reduce systolic blood pressure by 15-25mmHg.

2. Hypertension in special populations

(1) Elderly hypertension: It is necessary to start with low doses, as elderly people are more sensitive to beta blockers.

(2) Diabetes with hypertension: blood glucose needs to be closely monitored, which may mask the symptoms of hypoglycemia.

Characteristics of blood pressure reduction effect

1. Effective time

The peak concentration is reached 1-2 hours after oral administration, but the maximum antihypertensive effect takes 2-4 weeks of continuous medication to fully manifest. It is recommended to regularly monitor blood pressure and adjust dosage.

2. Dose-response relationship

(1) The initial dose is 5-10mg/day, with an increase of 10mg every 2 weeks.

(2) The maintenance dose is usually 20-40mg/day, with a maximum of 80mg/day.

3. Compared with other antihypertensive drugs

Compared to non selective beta blockers (such as propranolol), bronchoconstrictive side effects are fewer, but the antihypertensive effect is weaker than that of calcium antagonists. Often combined with diuretics to enhance therapeutic efficacy.

Precautions

1. Medication monitoring

During the initial stage of treatment, heart rate and blood pressure should be monitored weekly, and after stabilization, they should be rechecked every 3 months. Sudden discontinuation of medication may trigger rebound hypertension.

2. Taboo population

It is contraindicated for patients with severe bradycardia, cardiogenic shock, and acute heart failure. Asthma patients need to carefully evaluate the risk return ratio.
