Amino acid compound granules may cause specific metabolic problems during consumption due to osmotic pressure, sugar load, or electrolyte ratio. Pay attention to early signals and adjustment strategies for the following three types of risks, which can help with safe medication.

1、 Prevention and treatment of osmotic diarrhea

Strictly control the initial concentration: The first use should start from 50% to 70% of the recommended concentration in the instructions, and gradually increase to the full amount after 3-5 days of intestinal adaptation.

Slow down infusion or drinking speed: When taking orally, drink slowly in small sips, with an interval of 1-2 minutes between each sip; Nasal feeders should use gravity drip at a rate not exceeding 50-80mL/h to avoid sudden increase in intestinal osmotic pressure.

Monitoring early signals: If there is a significant increase in abdominal gurgling sounds, frequent exhaust, or watery stools, the medication should be immediately suspended and a doctor should be consulted to adjust the concentration or speed.

Supplementing water and electrolytes: During diarrhea, oral hypotonic rehydration salts can be taken to avoid drinking plain water alone, in order to prevent the aggravation of hyponatremia.

2、 Identification and regulation of hyperglycemia

Active monitoring of high-risk groups: fasting blood glucose and 2h postprandial blood glucose should be monitored within 3 days after starting taking diabetes, patients with abnormal glucose tolerance or elderly patients.

Administer the total dose in divided doses: Divide the required dose for the whole day into 3-4 times to be taken with meals, avoiding a single large carbohydrate load and reducing the burden on the pancreas.

Adjust hypoglycemic drugs if necessary: If blood sugar continues to exceed the target value, it is necessary to contact a doctor in a timely manner. It may be necessary to temporarily adjust the dosage of oral hypoglycemic drugs or insulin.

Be alert to asymptomatic hyperglycemia: Elderly patients or those with autonomic dysfunction may not have typical symptoms such as thirst and polyuria, and rely more on blood glucose testing.

3、 Prevention and correction of electrolyte imbalance

Pay attention to the risks of low potassium and low phosphorus: Long term use or excessive supplementation of amino acids may accelerate intracellular potassium and phosphorus transfer. When muscle weakness, arrhythmia, or bone pain occur, electrolytes should be checked in a timely manner.

Do not combine with diuretics at will: Potassium excretion diuretics such as furosemide and hydrochlorothiazide can increase the risk of hypokalemia, and blood potassium should be rechecked every 1-2 weeks during the combination period.

Re examination after adjusting the plan: If electrolyte imbalance has occurred, a re examination should be conducted 72 hours after correction to confirm that it has returned to normal, and then consider restoring or adjusting the dosage of amino acid granules.

Symptom oriented assessment: When muscle spasms, mental fatigue, or changes in electrocardiogram T-waves occur, electrolyte issues should be prioritized for exclusion, rather than solely attributed to underlying diseases.
