When Pemafibrate is used as a lipid-lowering medication, various adverse reactions may occur, including common gastrointestinal reactions, liver dysfunction, and rare severe allergic reactions. The following categories describe their side effects and corresponding measures.

1. Common adverse reactions

The incidence of digestive system symptoms is relatively high, manifested as nausea (about 15%), diarrhea (12%), abdominal pain (9%), etc. Most symptoms are mild and tolerable, and it is recommended to take them after meals to reduce irritation.

2. Abnormal liver function

About 5% of patients experience elevation of ALT/AST, usually mild (1-3 times ULN). Liver function should be monitored every 3 months before and after treatment, and if there are persistent abnormalities, dosage reduction or discontinuation of medication should be considered.

3. Muscle related reactions

The incidence of muscle pain is about 3%, and attention should be paid to the risk of rhabdomyolysis. If accompanied by CK value>5 times the normal upper limit or brown urine, the medication should be stopped immediately and medical treatment should be sought.

4. Allergic reactions

Rare but severe allergic reactions include facial edema (0.1%), urticaria, etc. Immediate emergency treatment is required if there is difficulty breathing, laryngeal edema, or an allergic reaction occurring at a constant rate.

5. Blood system impact

May cause mild decrease in hemoglobin (average decrease of 0.5g/dL), anemia patients need to strengthen monitoring. Rare thrombocytopenia leads to abnormal bleeding.

6. Other precautions

Long term use may affect the absorption of fat soluble vitamins, and it is recommended to supplement vitamin D appropriately. Elderly patients are more prone to drug accumulation and the dosage should be adjusted accordingly.

7. Light avoidance requirements

Transparent packaged drugs should be stored in opaque containers to avoid direct sunlight. Do not continue to use when the color of the pill changes (such as turning yellow).

8. Special precautions

It should be placed at a height that children cannot reach (recommended at least 1.5 meters). When traveling, it is necessary to use a specialized medicine box to avoid crushing or severe temperature fluctuations.
