The contraindications for sustained-release tablets of benzocaine involve severe liver and kidney diseases and a history of allergies. Taboo foods include alcohol and high-fat diet. Special populations need to adjust their medication plan according to their physiological status.

1. Contraindications

(1) Liver dysfunction: It is contraindicated for patients with Child Pugh C cirrhosis, as metabolic disorders may lead to drug accumulation.

(2) Renal insufficiency: Patients with CrCl<30mL/min should avoid using it, as it may increase the burden on the kidneys.

(3) Gallbladder disease: It is contraindicated for patients with active gallstones or biliary obstruction, as it may induce biliary colic.

2. Forbidden foods

(1) Alcohol: interferes with drug metabolism and increases liver burden. It is recommended to quit drinking during medication.

(2) High fat foods: reduce drug absorption by 30% -50%, recommended to take 1 hour before meals.

3. Medication for special populations

(1) Pregnant women

Animal experiments have shown embryonic toxicity, and human data is limited. Based on the principle of risk avoidance, this medication is prohibited during pregnancy.

(2) Lactating women

Medications may be secreted through breast milk, and it is recommended to suspend breastfeeding or discontinue medication during treatment.

(3) Child patients

The safety of medication for children under 12 years old has not been established, and it is not recommended for clinical use.

(4) Elderly patients

Patients over 65 years old need to reduce their dosage by 25%. Due to natural decline in kidney function, close monitoring of creatinine clearance rate is necessary.

(5) Patients with liver dysfunction

Child Pugh A/B patients need to reduce their dosage by 50% and monitor their ALT levels weekly; Child Pugh Class C patients are contraindicated.

(6) Patients with renal dysfunction

Mild damage (CrCl60-89mL/min) does not require adjustment; Reduce moderate damage (CrCl30-59mL/min) by 50%; Severe damage (CrCl<30mL/min) is prohibited.

4. Drug interactions

(1) Anticoagulants: To enhance the efficacy of warfarin, frequent monitoring of INR values is required.

(2) Statins: increase the risk of rhabdomyolysis, and CK values need to be monitored when used in combination.
