Lascufloxacin hydrochloride is a quinolone antibacterial agent. During medication, vigilance is required for three types of risks: QT interval prolongation, tendinitis, and drug interactions. Reasonable assessment and monitoring are key to safe medication. The following explains from three aspects.
1.Identification of high-risk populations
Those with a history of QT interval prolongation, congenital long QT syndrome, hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia, or bradycardia have a higher risk with this product and should use it with caution.
2.Electrocardiogram monitoring
High-risk patients should undergo electrocardiogram monitoring before and during medication, with attention to QTc changes; if significant prolongation occurs, the drug should be stopped promptly.
3.Correct electrolyte disturbances
Hypokalemia and hypomagnesemia should be corrected before medication, and electrolyte balance should be maintained during treatment to reduce the risk of arrhythmia.
4.Watch for related symptoms
If palpitations, dizziness, syncope, or arrhythmia occur, stop the drug immediately and seek medical evaluation.
1.At-risk populations
Elderly patients, glucocorticoid users, organ transplant recipients, and those with a history of tendon disease have a markedly increased risk of tendinitis or tendon rupture.
2.Common sites and manifestations
It occurs most often in the Achilles tendon and may also involve the shoulder, hand, and other sites, manifesting as local pain, swelling, tenderness, or limited movement.
3.Stop the drug once symptoms appear
Once tendon pain or swelling occurs, stop the drug, avoid weight-bearing on the affected limb, and seek medical attention promptly.
4.Avoid strenuous exercise
During medication and for a period after stopping the drug, avoid strenuous exercise and high-intensity weight-bearing to reduce the chance of tendon injury.
1.Metal cation drugs
Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, as well as iron, calcium, and zinc supplements, can chelate with this product and reduce absorption; they should be taken at least 2 hours apart.
2.QT-prolonging drugs
Concomitant use with amiodarone, sotalol, macrolides, some antipsychotics, etc. may increase the risk of QT interval prolongation and arrhythmia; avoid or strengthen monitoring.
3.Glucocorticoids
Concomitant use with glucocorticoids can significantly increase the risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture; concomitant use should be avoided as much as possible, and observation should be strengthened if use is truly necessary.
4.Oral hypoglycemic agents
Quinolones may cause blood glucose fluctuations; when used with hypoglycemic agents, blood glucose should be monitored, and vigilance should be maintained for hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia.
5.Theophylline and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
Concomitant use with theophylline may increase central nervous system toxicity, and concomitant use with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may increase the risk of convulsions; use together with caution.
